Old Business:
The Finance Committee is reviewing the budget for 2020-2021 for adjustments

The October and November meetings will be via ZOOM with programs. Need to assess members’ preferences for future meetings via Unity Church or via ZOOM.

We will poll members to see if we want to go to luncheon at Palladio Trattoria with raffle baskets.

Blue Star Memorial marker status: Ordered 7/31/20, shipping 10/16/20. Need to plan dedication ceremony.

Yearbook: Will be available to members for mailing or pickup.

Committee Reports:

Blue star memorial marker:  We have a great location in downtown Bonita Springs. City has approved.
      • GCGC is working on ordering the marker. 
      • Tasks and time frames are being identified for the announcement, presentation and installation.

GCGC Directory/Yearbook:  Anina & Ben Bachrach are working on this during the summer. 8/1/20 deadline for changes, additions, etc. Check out web site: gulfcoastgardenclub.org, password: DandyLion  Email Anina with changes and corrections.

Meeting Programs: Chairs are lining up speakers for October thru May 2021.

Section A  “On Your Mark”     Designers Choice of all materials    Eligible for Petite Award

1. “Morning Meditations & Reflections”    A design not to exceed 8” in any direction.  Staged on silver colored stand provided by committee.

2. “Garden Gifts”    A design not to exceed 12” in any direction, incorporating a small wheelbarrow.  Staged on upside down clay saucers with an 8” flat surface.  Wheelbarrows and saucers provided  by committee.

3. “Wings:  Birds, Bees, Butterflies”  A design not to exceed 5” in any direction.  Staged hanging on black metal stands provided by committee.

Section B    “Ready….” Designers Choice of all materials    4 & 5 Eligible for Novice Prize

4.  “…to Volunteer”  The Library, Literacy Council and Schools use BOOKS!  A design using one or more books in any way.  Staged on ¼ of a card table, in space 15” x 15”.  No height limit.           Novices Only

5 .  “…to Relax”  Enjoy your favorite beverage!  A design in a cup, mug, glass, bottle or whatever holds the liquid.  Staged on ¼ of a card table, in space 15” x 15”.   No height limit.   Novices Only 

6. “…to Exercise”  The gym, pool, courts & links keep us stretched out!  A design of any style.  Staged on 30”w x 18”d pedestal tops, 50” h.  Natural color cardboard pedestal, white top.  No backgrounds permitted. but may cover top.            Judges Only

Section C    “Set….”  Designers Choice of all materials             Eligible for Table Artistry Award

 7.  “…A Breakfast Tray”   A tray for one,  suggesting a special person or occasion.  Maximum space allowed for tray 28”.   Staged on tables 29” high.

8.  “…Out a Picnic Lunch on a Bench”  A Still Life using a picnic basket and other objects.  Staged on a bench 16” deep with wooden back 16” high.  Width to fill is 40”.  Bench is 18” high from the floor.  Underlay/tablecloth required.  May cover back.

9.    “…Up a Party”   A buffet for 4 or more, suggesting a birthday, anniversary, holiday or event. Staged on tables 48” w x 18” deep, 29” high.

Section D   “Go….”  Designers choice of all materials    Eligible for Designers Choice Award

10.  “to…. The Farmers Markets”  A design honoring our local farmers markets.  Staged in cork trifolds with 24” back, open to 36” wide, 36” high, in space 30” deep, provided by committee.   Underlay required. 

11.  “to….Community Events”  A design honoring a Blue Star Memorial Dedication.  Staged in blue trifolds with 24” back, open to 36” wide, 36” high in space 30” deep, provided by committee. Underlay required.

12.  “to….The Thrift Shops”  A design incorporating one or more unusual objects which might be found at a Thrift Shop.  Staged on pedestals 36” high, with tops measuring 24” square.  May cover tops.
